As part of Swansea City Council’s drive to transform modern housing, the Swansea Standard Innovative Homes Project sets a new benchmark for energy-efficient social housing. Designed to function as individual ‘energy-positive power stations’, these homes combine renewable technologies with advanced construction techniques to reduce energy consumption and support lower running costs for residents.
Treharne Homes was selected to manufacture the precision-engineered timber frame systems central to the project’s success. Our off-site construction approach ensured speed, quality, and consistency, while enabling the integration of cutting-edge energy- saving features into each home.
This project demonstrates how timber frame construction can support large-scale housing initiatives focused on performance, efficiency, and sustainability. Winner of Best New-Build Housing Initiative at the APSE Service Awards 2021, the development stands as a leading example of how thoughtful design and modern methods of construction can deliver lasting benefits to communities.
